Loading & Lashing Completed

Base Plate 20Ton & Top Shell 15Ton

We expertly handled and transported two heavy industrial components a 20 ton Base Plate and 15 Top Shell unit. Two massive, robust pieces of machinery—one with a complex, multi-sectioned base and the other a large, rounded vessel—are carefully positioned on a heavy-duty 40ft flat rack.

Project Overview

To ensure maximum safety during transit, we used high-strength 50kn straps, meticulously securing each component at multiple points to the trailer’s frame.

The images captures a critical stage of our heavy cargo handling process, where a large, robust industrial component—with a rounded, cylindrical body and extended shafts—is being carefully lifted and positioned onto a heavy-duty flatbed trailer. The bright yellow 40-tonne capacity lifting aid is used to hoist the component, with heavy-duty strops securing it for safe movement.

The component is being lowered onto wooden supports on the flat rack, ensuring stability during placement. This moment exemplifies our team’s precision and expertise in managing heavy, oversized loads—from careful lifting and positioning to ensuring every step adheres to strict safety and operational standards. Whether it’s loading, unloading, or transporting specialized industrial equipment, we deliver reliable, skilled solutions for even the most complex logistical challenges.

Our team’s attention to detail in load securement, combined with our expertise in managing oversized and heavy cargo, ensures that even the most challenging shipments are transported safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with industry standards.

Challenge

The 20-tonne Base Plate and 15-tonne Top Shell presented significant logistical hurdles due to their massive weight and irregular, non-standard geometries. Unlike regular cargo, these complex components required precision positioning and balancing to prevent uneven weight distribution, which otherwise risked compromising the stability of the flat rack.

Solution

Before any lifting or placement, our team conducted a detailed assessment of each component’s dimensions, weight distribution, and unique geometry. We developed a tailored loading plan that accounted for the irregular shapes, calculating exactly how to position, support, and secure each piece to ensure stability and safety. This included identifying critical load points and designing custom support solutions (such as wooden blocks and reinforced cradles) to distribute weight evenly and prevent stress on fragile or uneven surfaces.

Result

We used heavy-duty, high-capacity lifting gear—including the 40-tonne capacity lifting arm shown—to handle the extreme weight of the components. For their irregular shapes, we employed specialized lifting strops and rigging methods that distributed tension evenly across stable points, avoiding damage to the cargo while ensuring a secure hold. To position the components accurately on the flatrack we used wooden support blocks to create stable, level bases that matched the unique contours of each piece. This not only ensured proper alignment but also prevented shifting during transit. For securement, we applied high-strength strapping at multiple strategic points, tailored to the shape of each component, to lock them firmly to the trailer frame. Every step was verified to meet strict safety and industry standards, ensuring the load remained stable and secure throughout the journey.

Project Details

Success depended on seamless communication and coordination between our lifting operators, ground crew, and project managers. Our team’s extensive experience in heavy cargo handling meant they could anticipate potential issues and adjust quickly, ensuring smooth, safe execution. Regular checks and clear protocols were in place to maintain safety at every stage—from initial lifting to final securement.

By combining technical expertise, custom solutions, and a commitment to safety, we successfully overcame the challenges of loading these irregularly shaped heavy components, delivering a reliable, efficient solution for our client.
